Pay Your Challan Online

- We're living in the new trendy cashless India
- There is a major penalty if you don't pay your challan on time
- If you have a pending challan, you can pay the challan online.
One fine morning you wake up on the right side of the bed and decide to go to work early with hopes of coming back home early as well. So, you start your car and just drive away happily. Finally, after many days you feel that providence is on your side as the traffic is low and you made a good decision to go to work early.
Suddenly, you stop at the red light and you see a uniformed police officer coming to you and by the time you realise, he knocks at your window and hands you a piece of paper for driving without a seat belt that you had completely forgotten while you started driving. So, the next step is that you need to park your car and reach for your wallet.
But suddenly you find there is no cash in your wallet to pay the police officer but after a long conversation with the cop, he lets you go and asks you to submit your license. He assures you that you will get it back after you pay the penalty. One must remember that paying challan on time is also another task and in case you don't pay the challan in the stipulated time be prepared to spend long hours in court.
What is an e-Challan and how do we pay a challan online?
You can either pay the challan through the Parivahan website or you have to do the payment via the State Transport Department's website. For traffic rule violations, e-challan payments need to be made through the city police website. If you are paying for the challan through the Parivahan website, then the first step is to go to the parivahan.gov.in site.
You scroll down and click on the e-Challan system. Once you have done that you will be redirected to a new page and click on get challan details. The next step is to enter the registration number of your vehicle followed by the last 5 digits of the engine number and fill in the captcha and click on get details. The next step is you will see the details of your challan and the pay now button. Click on it, select the option you want to make the payment with. Upon the payment being successful, record the Transaction ID. This is for future reference if needed.
