Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 Spotted In Near Production Guise

Royal Enfield has a host of new models in the pipeline across segments. Now the upcoming Shotgun 650 has again been spied on Indian roads this time in near-production spec. The bike seemingly lacks any camouflage suggesting that it could be headed for a debut soon.
The 650cc roadster is expected to share its underpinnings with the company’s Continental GT and Interceptor with the engine too set to be carried over. The 648 cc, parallel-twin engine makes 47 bhp and 52 Nm of peak torque in the current 650 twins though could get some tweaks. The engine is expected to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Coming to the design, the Shotgun 650 carries on with Royal Enfield’s retro-inspired design with a large tear-drop-shaped fuel tank and rounded mirrors and headlight clusters. Also retained from past models is the twin shock rear set-up. The bike also features a split seat design and a simple round tail-lamp neatly integrated into the rear fender. The turn signals are positioned lower down at the base of the short rear fender. The twin-peashooter exhausts are another throwback design element. Also visible is a single central instrument pod with a partial cowl rising up from the headlamp unit.

While some reports have called this test mule the new Super Meteor 650, the later will get more forward set footpegs to go with its cruiser stance with previous spy images also suggesting a different exhaust set-up and a longer rear fender.
The Shotgun 650 could make its debut in the coming months.
