Santro Is People's Choice In Hyundai AH2 Naming Contest

- Hyundai will be increasing its capacity at its plant
- The Hyundai Santro will replace the Eon when it's launched
- The Santro will come with an AMT
Hyundai India started the 'naamkaran' campaign for the AH2 hatchback in August this year thus involving current and potential customers to choose the name of the new hatchback. While we were quite sure that 'Santro' would turn out to be the hot favourite, it looks like the votes that are coming in are reiterating that story. The Santro nameplate leads all others as the overwhelming favourite in Hyundai Motor India's 'Naamkaran' contest. Y K Koo, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India said that the company has received a total of 4,00,114 votes till date. Out of this the name 'Santro' sits right at the top with 201,568 votes. Now it has to be said here that people were given a choice to choose their own names and there were quite a few other suggestions but none were as popular. The other names were i5 which received 633 votes, Splash which got 443 and Saneon which acquired 426 votes. So, the winner as of now, by a long margin is the 'Santro' badge.

We must add here that the contest is not over yet as the voting will cease on September 25, 2018 and there's still a week before the results are announced. However, the preliminary results suggests that the 'Santro' badge is all set to make a comeback.

While the results seems to moving towards a very predictable outcome, we are very glad that the 'Santro' badge is making a comeback to India and we can't wait to drive it in October as also know all about the car when it's launch on October 23, 2018.
