Tata Punch: Everything We Know So Far

- The Tata Punch stays true to the HBX concept in terms of design.
- It will be the first model to be underpinned by the ALFA-ARC platform.
- It's the new entry-level SUV and will be positioned below the Tata Nexon.
The Tata HBX micro-SUV concept charmed everyone at the Auto Expo 2020 and attracted quite a few eyeballs at the carmaker's grand pavilion at the biennial event. It's good to see that the production version hasn't deviated much and stays true to the concept in terms of design. Tata Motors has christened it Punch and shared an image of the production model, giving us a fair idea of it looks like. That said, there's still much to learn about its interior, features and engine options among others and these details will be revealed later, closer to its launch timeline which is expected around this festive season. Here's everything we know so far about the new Tata Punch.

- The new Tata Punch will be the first SUV to be built on the ALFA-ARC (Agile Light Flexible Advanced Architecture), and it adores the Impact 2.0 design language.
- It's the new entry-level SUV in the company's line-up and will be positioned below the Nexon subcompact SUV in India.

- In terms of looks, the new Tata Punch looks aggressive especially at the front end that features Tata's signature split light design. The black panel houses the Tata logo and features a three tri-arrow pattern. It is flanked by the LED daytime running lights (DRLs), while the main headlamp units are positioned below and will come with projector lights.
- The front features a large tri-arrow design grille and large round foglamps. The cladding continues along the profile as well, covering the squared wheel arches and side underbody.
- The car also comes with sporty dual-tone alloy wheels and roof rails, while the revealed model comes in a dual-tone paint job, featuring a blue base tone with a white roof and blacked-out pillars.

Tata Motors is yet to officially reveal the interior of the Punch.
- Tata is yet to reveal the rear section of the car but based on the teaser and leaked photos, we know it will come with compact wraparound LED taillights, a sculpted tailgate and a heavily cladded bumper.
- We also expect the new Punch to source the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine from the Altorz premium hatchback.
- The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Turbo motor is tuned to belt out 85 bhp and 113 Nm of power figures. It is likely to come with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard and an optional AMT unit.
- The new Tata Punch will compete with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and even the Renault Kwid.
