The MG Astor is the SAIC-backed carmaker's fifth model to go on sale in India last year and is essentially the petrol-powered version of the MG ZS EV. The MG Astor is also the company's first model to feature an AI-based personal assistant, Level 2 autonomous tech with ADAS functions, and comes with two petrol-powered options. It is priced between Rs. 9.98 lakh and Rs. 17.72 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and is the brand's most affordable offering yet. Here are the top 5 features of the MG Astor.

Design and Styling
The MG Astor retains the same silhouette as the MG ZS EV and borrows its design cues. At the front, it receives a new celestial pattern grille, full LED projector headlamps with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, and a new bumper. In profile, it sits on new 17-inch alloy wheels, while the rest is quite similar to its electric sibling. At the back, you get new LED taillamps, and a new rear bumper with a chrome accentuated dual exhaust design.

Cabin And Interior
On the inside, the cabin of the Astor looks similar to its electric counterpart, the ZS EV, and gets three interior theme options. It also comes equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch instrument cluster, a multi-functional steering wheel with chrome inserts, power-adjustable front seats, auto climate control, 360-degree camera view, air-purifier, electric parking brake, and a panoramic sunroof.

Features
The MG Astor comes with a customised AI assistant, which understands natural language and supports up to 35 Hinglish voice commands. The new system offers over 80 internet features, including Wikipedia, jokes, news, festival GIFS, navigation, online music streaming, in-car control, and critical in-car warning. As for safety, the SUV comes with 6 airbags, ISOFIX mounts, TPMS, ESP, traction control, hill descent control, and all four-disc brakes.

Engine
The MG Astor SUV will be offered in two engine options- a 1.4-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that belts out 138 bhp @5,600 rpm and 220 Nm at 3,600 rpm and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Then is the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit that comes mated to either a manual gearbox or an 8-step CVT gearbox. This motor is tuned to churn out 108 bhp @6,000 rpm and 144 Nm @4,400 rpm of peak torque.

Driver Assistance
The MG Astor comes with Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) along with Level 2 autonomous technology. For this, MG partnered with BOSCH for the ADAS, and it comes with AI technology, six radars, and five cameras, allowing the SUV to manage 14 advanced autonomous Level 2 features.
