Toyota Vios Sedan Caught Testing In India Again

- Toyota has already been testing the Vios sedan in India for some time now
- The car was imported to India for R&D a few months back
- The Vios rivals the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and VW Vento
The aforementioned car was seen sans camouflage except for the fact that it was missing the Toyota logo up front and rest of the badges were masked as well. In terms of looks, as mentioned in our earlier reports, the car is like a more premium version of the Etios with styling cues borrowed from the Corolla Altis. The new generation Vios even takes some styling cues from the new Camry, some of which are visible from the car's exterior profile. The car came with alloy wheels and electrical ORVMs with integrated turn signal lights. That said, the test mule did not have projector headlamps or LED tail lamp.

Toyota Vios Front
In terms of dimensions the car measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height. The car has a wheelbase of 2,550 mm, which is identical to the Etios sedan and it weighs 1,075 kilos.

Toyota Vios Side
Under the hood, the global version of the car is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine and a 1.4-litre diesel motor. The engines come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission along with the option of a 4-speed automatic gearbox. Safety features will include ABS and dual front airbags as standard.

Toyota Vios Rear
There were rumours saying that Toyota might eventually pull the plug on the Etios sedan brand and replace it with the bigger and more premium Vios in future. But, the carmaker is already gearing up to launch the Etios and Etios Liva facelifts in India this year, which indicates that won't be happening anytime soon.
Upon its launch in India, the Toyota Vios will compete with the likes of Volkswagen Vento, Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and even the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz for that matter,
