Triumph Renames Street Twin As Speed Twin 900; Prices Start At Rs. 8.35 Lakh

Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Speed Twin 900 in India. Confused? It is essentially the Street Twin, Triumph’s best-selling modern classic motorcycle in India, but with a new name, which is ‘Speed Twin 900’. Prices for the new Speed Twin 900 start at Rs. 8.35 lakh for the basic Jet Black colour, and Rs. 8.48 lakhs for Matt Silver Ice and Matt Ironstone colour option. Buyers can personalise the motorcycle by adding accessories as per their needs. Bookings for the new Speed Twin 900 have begun and deliveries are likely to begin soon.
The Speed Twin 900’s design harks back to old Bonnies of the 1960s’ stripped-back custom classic style with modern bits like knee indents, engine fins and twin upswept silencers along with modern Triumph’s design updates including a stylish thick bench seat with 765 mm height. The side panels have been redesigned and the throttle body finish and Aluminium headlight brackets are new too.
The Speed Twin 900 gets the same 900 cc Liquid cooled, 8 valve, SOHC, 270° crank angle parallel twin from HT Bonneville with maximum performance of 64.1 bhp at 7,500 rpm and peak torque of 80 Nm at 3,800 rpm. The power is sent to the rear wheel via a 5-speed transmission with a torque assist clutch for easier gearshifts.
The Speed Twin 900 is built on a tubular steel-twin cradle frame with cast Aluminium alloy wheels. The bike also gets 41mm cartridge forks at the front and Twin RSUs with preload adjustment suspension at the rear. The Speed Twin 900 is equipped with a 310 mm Brembo 4 piston fixed axial caliper brakes up front.
The bike comes with a tank capacity of 12 litres and an overall weight of 216 kg that delivers fuel efficiency of 28.9 kmpl. The Speed Twin 900 gets an analogue speedometer with an LCD multi-functional display featuring Road and Rain riding modes, adjustable throttle map, traction settings and ABS settings. In terms of convenience, you get an under-seat USB charger and an immobiliser hidden inside the key.
