Volvo V90 Cross Country Launch Updates: Highlights

Highlights
The all-new Volvo Cross Country has been launched in India today and we have the complete launch highlights for you here. We have already told you a lost about the car in our previous reports and our first drive review as well. The new V90 Cross Country is the crossover derivative of the V90 estate wagon / station wagon and shares its styling cues with the popular Volvo S90 sedan. The Swedish carmaker says that the V90 Cross Country is the spiritual successor of the XC70 and the V70 models.
Under the hood, the new V90 Cross Country features the same 2-litre diesel motor that does duty on the S90, but power has been uprated to 235 bhp while paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Peak torque is clocked at 480 Nm. Being a Cross Country, the V90 has to get an AWD system and the 5th generation Borg Warner AWD to be specific. The AWD system is assisted by different driving modes as well. At maximum, the AWD system can split the torque in a 50:50 ratio between the two axles if and when required.
A lot of things, specifically in terms dimensions, styling and features, on the Volvo V90 Cross Country, are quite similar to the S90 sedan. This means the car is sure to satisfy all your comfort needs. Design highlights like the grille and Thor's Hammer LED daytime running lights have also been carried over from the S90.

Sensing an opportunity in the market for a multi purpose vehicle that wasnt van-like, Volvo decided to take its V70 station wagon, raise it a bit with some chunkier suspension, install all-wheel-drive and some plastic clad bumpers and voila! the V70 Cross Country was born. In fact, the XC nomenclature that we have come to associate Volvo with today was originally used for the first time on the V70 Cross Country (X-Cross and C-Country). That was in 1997. Fast-forward 20 years to 2017, and Volvo has decided to update its model portfolio and the Cross Country badging is now offered on the V9
