What To Do If You Put The Wrong Fuel In Your Car?

Filling your automobile with the wrong gasoline is one of the infrequent blunders but can lead to extremely serious issues. Since the fuel nozzle of a diesel automobile cannot fit through the nozzle of a petrol car, the problem occurs more frequently with diesel cars than with petrol vehicles. If you are not attentive, filling your vehicle's gasoline tank with the incorrect fuel might be quite costly. Read further to know what to do if you fill your vehicle with the wrong fuel.
Diesel Cars
With diesel cars, you need to do something as soon as you realize your vehicle has been fueled with petrol or some other gasoline. It is important to remember that you do not turn the key in the ignition or turn the key in the ignition. Instead, push your car to a more secure location within the station and contact your vehicle's customer care. They would assist and direct you to the nearest service center where the issue can be addressed.

If you didn't notice the mistake of putting in the wrong fuel when leaving the gas station but noticed after a few minutes of driving, pull over to a safe location as soon as possible. If you see that the fuel station attendant is filling diesel instead of petrol while filling the tank, notify them. If less than 6% of the tank has been filled with diesel, you may fill the balance with gasoline and forget about it because diesel and gasoline mix nicely. However, it is preferable to get your automobile inspected to determine whether the gasoline contamination can be removed.

Petrol Cars
If you fill up a diesel vehicle with petrol, it might damage more than the other way around. This is because a diesel engine utilizes petrol to lubricate its internal components. When petrol is mixed with diesel, the friction between the components rises, causing the fuel lines and pump damage. As a result, do not turn on the ignition or turn the key when you realize improper fuel has been poured into your petrol vehicle. Your automobile will be safe as long as no fuel gets inside the engine. All you have to do now is tow your automobile to a nearby repair center or workshop and have the tank emptied and cleansed.
Regardless of your vehicle, you must come to a complete stop as soon as you become aware of the error that you have put the wrong fuel in your vehicle and contact your vehicle's customer service. Allow the specialists to assist you by towing your vehicle to the nearest service center. If you drive with the wrong fuel, it can cause serious damage to the engine and other components of the vehicle.
