Yamaha Launches the YZF-R1 at Rs. 22.34 lakhs and R1M at Rs 29.43 Lakhs

The memory of the Kawasaki H2 hasn't faded yet and now Yamaha comes out with a worthy contender. It's clearly raining superbikes in India. Yamaha Motor India today unveiled the much awaited YZF-R1 and R1M
The Yamaha YZF-R1M is available in Bluish White Metallic 2 colour and is priced at Rs. 29,43,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi), whereas the R1 is available in two new colors - Deep purplish blue metallic C and Vivid Red Cocktail 1 and is priced at Rs. 22,34,300 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both the bikes are available on order.
The YZF-R1 and R1M are based on Yamaha's 'High Tech Armed Pure Sport' concept. This makes them an all-out supersport model fully armed with advanced technology. According to the company, these bikes will allow riders to experience he technical philosophy behind Yamaha's MotoGP racing machine, the YZR-M1.

The bikes are based on the Speed Racer concept and hence boast of a light, slim, and compact look. The new fairing shape features the cross-layered wing while the front face of the new bikes inherits the twin-headlight configuration found in the R-series of the past.
The bikes feature a 998cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line four- cylinder, 4-valve engine with a crossplane crankshaft. Thanks to this engine there is 200bhp on offer which is 18bhp more than what the current R1 puts out. It's shed a bit of weight too; all of 4kg.
Both the models get a 4.2-inch TFT LCD screen which displays a bar display tachometer, accelerometer and brake pressure displays that give a similar visual impression to analog meters. The rider can select from two different display modes: 'Street', which is tailored to travel on public roads, and 'Track' which prioritizes the information displays required for race and circuit riding.
There is no doubt that the YZF-R1 comes loaded with features like traction control, slide control, launch control and ABS. Well, the R1 M gets that and a little more. It gets Ohlins racing forks at the front for increased stability, and a data logging system which records, lap timings, throttle position, lean angle and some more.
