2022 BMW X3 Diesel Launched In India; Priced At Rs. 65.50 Lakh

- BMW adds a single diesel engine option to the refreshed X3 range in India
- The BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition will be locally produced.
- It gets the 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel powertrain.
After introducing two petrol versions of the 2022 X3 SUV earlier this year, BMW India has added a diesel variant to the range, as the BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition is priced at Rs. 65.50 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The locally produced X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition joins the refreshed X3 range which includes X3 xDrive 30i SportX Plus and X3 xDrive 30i M Sport - priced at Rs. 59.90 lakh and Rs. 65.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India) respectively. Aesthetically, the X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition remains identical to its petrol siblings, while the only change here is the introduction of the turbocharged diesel powertrain.

Aesthetically, the 2022 BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition remains identical to its petrol siblings.
And so, the power in the 2022 BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition comes from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, TwinTurbo diesel engine, good enough to produce 190bhp and maximum torque of 400 Nm @1,750 – 2,500 rpm. The car accelerates from 0 -100 kmph in just 7.9 seconds with a top speed of 213 kmph. Transmission is handled by the same 8-speed automatic Steptronic sport transmission, with an automatic hold function and paddle shifters from the petrol models. Also available is BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system as a standard fitment, with variable torque distribution, Hill Descent Control (HDC), and Hill Start Assist (HSA). As far as driving modes go, the 2022 BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition also comes with four driving modes - ECO PRO, COMFORT, SPORT, SPORT+.

The 2022 BMW X3 facelift gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with a 360-degree view camera and park assist.
The 2022 BMW X3 xDrive20d Luxury Edition wears the same clothing as the petrol siblings, and so features the large kidney grille with vertical chrome slats, flanked by a set of adaptive LED headlights with Matrix functionality. It sits on 19-inch alloy wheels. At the back, it receives LED taillamps with black borders, with a narrower light graphic, that also doubles up as turn indicators. The flush-fitted dual exhaust pipes and a sportier rear bumper can also be found with this variant.

The 2022 model also gets an updated cabin with revised features and new upholstery choices. Besides, it also receives a multi-function sport steering wheel, electrical seat adjustment with memory function, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and three-zone automatic climate control with redesigned air vents. The 550 litres of boot space can be expanded to 1,600 litres by folding down the 40/20/40 split rear seat backrest. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with BMW Live Cockpit Professional and 3D navigation is standard. The 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system can also be controlled via BMW Gesture Control. Additionally, you also get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Harman Kardon sound system.

To handle the safety, the 2022 BMW X3 comes with 6 airbags, Parking Assistant Plus with a 360-degree view camera, Attentiveness Assistance, Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensor, ISOFIX child seat mounting and integrated emergency spare wheel under the load floor.
