An Ultimate Guide to Keep Your Car Rust-Free

Car Rusting:
There is no more serious ‘silent killer' for your car than the rust formation on its body or frame. The rust in your vehicle weakens its actual strength, thus making it weak over some time and causing adverse aftermaths. In addition to it, the rust makes your car look in a bad state and creates an impression that it is not maintained properly. In this article, we will let you know some tips and tricks to avoid the formation of rust on your car or prevent it from spreading further.

Consequences of Rust
The formation of rust to a chemical reaction between the metallic parts of your car and moisture over it causes both structural and visual damage. If the rust isn't addressed at the soonest possible, it can spread more and weaken the body and frame of your car, which can lead to crippling of those parts over some time.

How to Avoid the Formation of Rust?
While the forming of rust in your car cannot be undone, if it happens anyway, even if it is over a small patch, there are some tips, that can help you avoid any such possibility. Following are those tips:
- Frequent wash –
Giving your car a thorough top wash will remove the rust-causing elements like salts and moisture from mud and debris and makes your look clean as an additional advantage. These rust-causing elements might not be visible every time. Thus it is safer to get rid of them with a proper foam wash at least once a week. - Apply wax polish –
While it is not feasible to give a wax coating to your car after every wash, it can be done at least twice or thrice a year. The benefit of giving a wax polish coating to your vehicle is the additional layer of protection it creates between the layer of rust-causing elements and your vehicle's original paint. - Apply anti-rust coating –
While many believe that applying an anti-rust coating might not bring any big difference, it helps to keep the rust-causing elements away from the original paint coating of your car. It works more effectively if you use your vehicle in coastal regions, where salt and moisture are two main culprits of rust formation. - Park under shade –
Apart from deteriorating the original paint shade of your car, consistent exposure to direct sunlight can also cause rust formation after coming in contact with a possible moist part of your car. It is advisable to keep your car parked under a shade, which will keep it away from rust-causing elements and keep the cabin cool. - Prevent the spread of rust formed –
The potential areas where rust generally occurs are door sills, drain holes, door openings and gaps between body panels, where water might get trapped after a wash, thus leading to the formation of moisture. Clean these areas with a micro-fibre cloth to avoid moisture getting trapped and forming rust before it spreads.
