Delhi-based start-up, Battery Smart, which offers battery swapping solutions for electric two and three-wheelers, has announced entering a partnership with car repair and service provider, GoMechanic. Under the new partnership, Battery Smart aims to set up battery swapping stations in 100+ GoMechanic garages across India. In fact, the first one has already been set up in the latter's West Delhi outlet. Battery Smart was co-founded by IIT-Kanpur graduates, Pulkit Khurana and Siddharth Sikka, which began its operation in June 2020.

GoMechanic has 600+ workshops across 35 cities and Battery Smart believes it will help further scale its operations across the country
Commenting on the latest development, Pulkit Khurana, Co-Founder of Battery Smart said, "We aim to revolutionize the EV sector by building mutually beneficial partnerships with leaders in the automobile and mobility space. GoMechanic has 600+ workshops across 35 cities and has aggressive growth plans. Their centres will serve as vital points for our customers to get vehicle maintenance, retrofitting and access to spare parts. This partnership will also enable us to quickly scale our swapping stations at key garages across territories."

Talking about the new partnership Suyash Kumar, VP - Operations and Expansion at GoMechanic, said "We are always open to working with partners that keep us at the forefront of the electric mobility revolution and hasten EV adoption. This is definitely a step forward in that direction. There are several synergies between Battery Smart and us, as we both are looking to enable EV adoption by establishing a dense EV ecosystem consisting of swapping or charging, retrofitment and maintenance services, and this partnership with a leading player focused on battery swapping will empower us to do just that."

Battery Smart has 450 active electric vehicles on the road and the company currently does about 1500 swaps every day
Right now, Battery Smart already has 71 swapping stations located across the Delhi-NCR region and 450 active electric vehicles on the road. The company currently does about 1500 swaps every day and says the partnership with GoMechanic will help further scale Battery Smart's operations across the country. The company says that it wants to address one of the major deterrents of EV adoption, which is the lack of charging/swapping infrastructure. So far, Battery Smart has enabled 3 million emission-free kilometres. "With the Government's support and focus to register 500,000 electric vehicles in Delhi by 2024, and have one charging station in every 3km radius, this partnership comes at an opportune time," the company added.
