Delphi to Conduct Longest Automated Drive Ever Attempted

Delphi has announced plans to conduct the longest automated drive ever attempted. The drive is set to kick off on March 22nd in North America. Starting from the Golden Gate, a specially-equipped Audi S Q5 will embark on a coast-to-coast trip.

The journey covers approximately 5632 km and this will be a true test for the autonomous Audi as it plans to do it without human intervention. The company says the trip will enable them to gather critical data as the prototype will be subjected to a variety of driving conditions from changing weather and terrain to potential road hazards - things that could never truly be tested in a lab.

Delphi chief technology officer Jeff Owens said, "It's time to put our vehicle to the ultimate test by broadening the range of driving conditions. This drive will help us collect invaluable data in our quest to deliver the best automotive grade technologies on the market."

There's no denying that autonomous cars are the future and there are many companies looking at bringing out that technology.
