In the world of automobiles, things are never quite crazy enough. On that note, welcome Dutch carmaker Donkervoort's D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition - a car that's mostly made out of carbon-fibre. The car gets visible carbon-fiber bodywork and the choice of matte or gloss finish or a colour accent.

The exterior and interior of the car is almost entirely made of the ultra-light material; from the nose to the diffuser, it is all in visible carbon fibre. Furthermore, interior elements including the seats, door panels, window frame, dashboard and door sills are all made out of carbon fibre. Furthermore, even the ignition cylinder housing, belt-and-roll bar trim, and headlight housings are made of visible carbon fibre.

The car then gets a UV-coating - that is carefully applied to each carbon fibre component by hand, in either a matte or gloss finish, or even with a colour accent of the owner's choosing.

Just so you know, the use of visible carbon fibre components instead of traditional colour paint system allows the company to save several kilos of weight on the car.

The 'this-should-have-been-Batman's-car' version of the D8 GTO is powered by the same Audi-sourced 2.5-litre 5-cylinder TFSI motor that develops between 340bhp and 380bhp - depending on the buyer's spec choice.

Though the company hasn't revealed performance figures for the Bare Naked Carbon edition, the 380bhp standard D8 GTO can go from 0-100Km/h in just 2.8 seconds, and offers a top-speed of 270Km/h.

Interestingly, the first unit of the car has already been sold to somebody in Switzerland.

Here's a video of how the Donkervoort D8 GTO Bare Naked Carbon Edition is made:
