Ducati V21L Electric Race Bike Performs Hot Laps At Vallelunga Circuit

- Ducati will be the sole supplier of electric bikes at the MotoE World Cup
- The series will commence from the 2023 season.
- The V21L will also be Ducati's first-ever electric motorcycle.
Ducati's first electric bike, the V21L, will take over the reins from the Energica Ego Corsa at MotoE is known. The Italian two-wheeler manufacturer even showcased its electric prototype late last year, which will eventually power the grid in the MotoE World Cup starting in 2023, as well as announced to the world its intention to be the sole supplier for the series, with the help of its first-ever electric motorcycle. But going by the recent video released by the company, the upcoming Ducati V21L electric motorcycle is anything but silent, as former world championship rider Alex De Angelis took it around the Vallelunga circuit in the northern part of Rome, Italy for 'not so silent' hot laps.

Roberto Canè, Ducati eMobility Director said, “Ever since we took the Ducati MotoE prototype to the track for the first time, development work on the project has never stopped, not even for a moment. The hard work of the whole team is paying off for the efforts made through continuous progress, which is giving us great satisfaction. In just four months, our prototype has already tackled the curves of some of the main Italian circuits, providing positive responses. There is still a lot of work to do, but the direction is certainly the right one.”

Alex De Angelis recently joined Ducati as a development rider for the Ducati V21L.
Since the first track test, carried out at the Misano World Circuit in December 2021, the development of Ducati's first-ever electric bike proceeded through analysis of the collected data, technical developments, and numerous tests carried out internally and at major motorcycle circuits. Angelis is joined by the experienced Michele Pirro, the first man to ride the prototype, among its test riders.

it is expected that the Ducati V21L will clock top speeds of more than 260kmph.
Although we are in the early days to comment on the specifications of the upcoming Ducati V21L electric bike, we certainly do know the figure it intends to beat, as the Energica Ego Corsa was known to reach 257 kmph during races. The latter came with a 147 bhp liquid-cooled electric motor laying down 220 Nm of torque, so Ducati certainly knows the benchmark.
