Enzo Ferrari Biopic to Star Christian Bale?

If reports are to be believed, former Batman Christian Bale is set to play the role of Enzo Ferrari in a biographical picture about the founder of the legendary Italian carmaker. According to Deadline Hollywood, the film will be directed by Michael Mann and production will begin next summer.
Word has it that the film may either be based on Alfonso de Portago's crash at the 1957 Mille Miglia that resulted in the death of 11 people, or, according to Road & Track, the story also take its inspiration from the book 'Enzo Ferrari: The Man, The Cars, The Races, The Machine'. Mann had previously tried to direct a movie adaptation of the book 'Go Like Hell' that chronicles Ford and Ferrari's illustrious rivalry at Le Mans in the 1960s.
Interestingly, this Christian Bale-starrer may already have found competition in the form of Robert de Niro's film about il Commendatore. de Niro's movie will allegedly narrate the story right from the founding of the celebrated Italian sports carmaker to the death of Enzo Ferrari in 1988.
