Ferrari 488GTO Picture And Details Leaked

- Could be the fourth car in Ferrari history to wear the GTO badge
- Will pack over 700 bhp from turbocharged V8 engine
- No hybrid technology in this special series version of the 488 GTB
Details for the highly awaited Ferrari 488 'special series' rumoured to bear the name GTO have been leaked. The supercar is said to make its debut at the 2018 Geneva Auto Show but was showcased to a private audience and at a dealer meet a few days ago in Ferrari's hometown of Modena. The new supercar is said to make over 700 bhp of power while at the same time cutting down on weight as compared to the standard car. If the GTO badge does get used on this particular car, this will be only the fourth ever Ferrari in the automaker's 70 year history to wear the most highly coveted badge. Earlier GTO badged cars included the likes of the 599 GTO, the legendary 288 GTO and the absolutely stunning Ferrari 250 GTO, which is today the world's most expensive car!

While the name is still under speculation, a long list of details on the car have been leaked. To begin with, the 488 GTO will continue to be a turbocharged V8 engine and will not employ hybrid technology as earlier expected. As mentioned earlier, the GTO will have over 700 bhp of peak power and will be over 10 per cent lighter than the standard car. In fact, the weight of the 488 GTO will be under 1300 kg. This extreme lightweight construction is due to the fact that both bumpers, the hood and the door panels have all been made out of carbon fibre. The 488 GTO will also feature a set of 20-inch full carbonfibre wheels. The 488 GTO will also have a stripped out interior with only an alcantara option and no clove box.

The 488 GTO features styling influenced by the 488 Challenge race car with a F1 inspired S-Duct up front and a large hood scoop that channels air for greater downforce. The rear of the car is said to be extremely aggressive with a massive carbonfibre diffuser and a twin exhaust setup. The area between the two tail lamps also features a large carbon piece. The car will most likely be produced in limited numbers and will be snapped up quickly be enthusiasts considering the fact that it is rumoured to have lapped the Fiorano Circuit as fast as the more powerful hybrid LaFerrari.
