Ferrari Could Adopt 50s Style Dark Red Livery For 2022 F1 Season

- Ferrari may not even reveal the final colours of the car on Feb 17
- The new car has an aggressive interpretation of the new rules
- Ferrari hopes to be winning races regularly in 2022
Reports out of Maranello suggest that for its 2022 F1 challenger, Ferrari could adopt a crimson or burgundy coloured livery which would be similar to the livery it had for the 2020 Tucson GP which was the legendary Italian team's 1000th GP in the sport. Interestingly, the new livery may not be even seen on February 17 when the team is expected to launch the car via a webcast. During the webcast, we may end up seeing a car that looks in colour very similar to the SF21 which also has a matte finish, something which Ferrari has pushed since the last couple of years for weight reasons.
The new livery could be also in deference to the 75th anniversary of the iconic team. In 2022, Ferrari celebrates its platinum jubilee - the 75th year of existence. It was founded in 1947 and has been in F1 from its very first year. The SF1000 which boasted the burgundy livery for the 2020 Tucson GP at Mugello, a track that's owned by Ferrari, was a success from a livery point of view, but a horror show in terms of on-track performance. It was also the weekend in which Sebastian Vettel announced that he was moving to Aston Martin.

The Ferrari that was driven by Alberto Ascari in 1950 had a dark red, crimson like colour
For 2022, the team has grand hope and team boss Mattia Binotto has outlined that it wants to challenge for the constructor's championship. It has come up with an innovative pull rod suspension on the front with an aggressive nose design. It also has a new engine which will likely catch up to the ones used by Mercedes and Red Bull. Ferrari because of its poor 2020 and relatively low-key 2021 also gets more wind tunnel and CFD time than its rivals which will be crucial for the development of the car.
In 2021, Ferrari also activated a new cutting-edge simulator and wind tunnel which could give the team an additional edge over its rivals. It also helps that the team perhaps has the best driver line up on the grid with the sublime Charles Leclerc and the zen Carlos Sainz Jr.
