Fiat Cronos (Linea Successor) Teased In New Video For Brazil

- The new Fiat Cronos will be revealed in January next year
- The Fiat Cronos will go on sale in Brazil & other South American markets
- The Cronos will compete against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna & the likes
The Fiat Linea has been around globally for a while now and the company is all set to replace its compact sedan with the all-new Cronos. With the model still under wraps, Fiat has released a new teaser video of the Cronos, which is the sedan version of the Argo hatchback. The model will first go on sale in Brazil and other South American markets by early next year, before making it to other countries. The new Fiat Cronos will be competing against the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Honda City and a host of other models in the segment. The new Fiat Cronos will make its official debut in January next year.

The Argo is already an extremely good looking model and we do think, some of its design elements will be carried over on the sedan as well. The teaser video gives a glimpse of what to expect from the Fiat Cronos. The design looks identical from the side view, while the major changes will be after the B-pillar where the model will be going in for the three-box design instead of the hatch. Expect to see similar headlamps, grille and doors from the Argo, while the boot-lid, taillights will be different. Interiors have not been revealed yet on the upcoming Fiat Cronos, but expect the model to share a tonne of its components with the Argo.
With respect to the powertrain, the Fiat Cronos will be powered by the 1.3-litre petrol with 108 bhp and a 1.8-litre flex-fuel engine with 138 bhp for the Brazilian market. The 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol motor will be given a miss on the sedan. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual, whereas a 6-speed automatic will be added later.

The Fiat Linea has aged in India too and the automaker is showing no signs of replacing the model. While a sturdy build, the Linea falls back compared to the competition, especially against the likes of the all-new Hyundai Verna, Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz among others. The Volkswagen Vento has also received timely updates over the years and is also set for a generation change globally.
