Ford Mustang to Come Powered by 5.0-Litre V8 Engine in India

- The American pony car will be launched in India on 13 July
- The Ford Mustang is expected to cost nearly Rs. 60 lakh in India
- It will come powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine here
Ford's universally acclaimed pony car, Mustang, is scheduled to be launched in India on 13 July. The Mustang made its first appearance in India earlier this year in February, before making its way to the 2016 Auto Expo. It may be interesting to note that the Ford Mustang, though originally launched in 1965, has never been part of the American carmaker's line-up in India. Until now, of course. The pony car, offered with a myriad of engine and body-type options in international markets, is likely to cost between Rs. 50 lakh - Rs. 60 lakh here.
The Mustang gave the world a new class of automobiles, pony cars, and its design certainly needs no introduction even 50 years later. However, it may be interesting to note some elements, such as the compelling shark nose, the signature long hood, shortened rear deck, the galloping horse on the front grille, aggressively styled head-lamps, rear diffuser, and the 18-inch Magnetic Gloss paint machined aluminium wheels. Suffice it to say that it continues to sport the exemplary details that represent the quintessential Ford Mustang.

Currently in its sixth generation, the Ford Mustang GT will arrive here via the CBU route with a 5.0-litre V8 engine under the hood. The V8 features larger intake and exhaust valves, revised intake and exhaust camshafts among several other features to ensure maximum power generation. Mated to a 6-speed SelectShift automatic transmission with paddle shifters, it affords 435 horses along with 542Nm of torque for performance.
Finally, the list of provisions; it will get LED equipped HID head-lamps, LED tail-lamps, dual-zone HVAC system, launch control, electronic line-lock, Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) with Cross-Traffic Alert, adaptive cruise control, drive mode selector, rain-sensing wipers, dual front airbags with additional curtain and knee-bags, etc..
