Despite the joy it provides night driving, it is not everyone's cup of tea. The reasons could be aplenty and vary across drivers. But there is no need to deny yourself the pleasure of nighttime driving as by following some simple guidelines, you can certainly take care of all the issues which might affect your experience.

Check the lights
This is probably the most obvious thing to do – make sure that the headlights, taillights, and interior bulbs are fully functioning at maximum brightness. All these lights are important for various scenarios, and they should be checked beforehand.
Avoid usage of high beam
It is important to note that there are other drivers on the road, and it is unwise to blind them. Thus, avoid using high beams at night so that other drivers can see the road ahead well and avoid any mishaps or accidents. A high beam can be used if the person is driving in places like dark highways.

Cleaning the windshield
Anything that blinds the vision should be avoided at all costs. When there is a large amount of glare coming from other vehicles, dirty windshields could block vision and make it difficult to see ahead. Thus, make sure that the windshield is fully cleaned before traveling at night.
Avoid staring at light beams
It's a natural human tendency to stare directly at light beams, but that can turn out to be dangerous. Light beams blind the vision making it difficult to spot obstacles ahead. The glare makes drivers blind for a while – avoid staring directly.
Avoid over speeding
It is crucial to driving slowly at night instead of racing down the road. Since the driver's vision is low at night, speeding increases the risks of accidents and tragic mishaps. There is less reaction time against any immediate stops or obstacles when one drives fast at night. Maintain a constant speed and make the journey safe.

Avoiding driving at night when tired
This is a sensible thing to do – avoid the wheel if tired. It is extremely dangerous for the driver and other passengers on the road if the person falls asleep while driving. That could lead to tragic consequences. It is better to avoid driving if tired. Take adequate rest or make a quick stop, get a short nap, and then continue the journey.
Cleaning the rearview mirror
It is important to keep all the mirrors of the vehicle clear – especially the rearview mirror and the side-view mirrors. If either of them is not clean, that blocks vision and makes it difficult for the driver to see other cars and vehicles on the road.
This is more of a general instruction but is very important while driving at night time. Do not drink and drive. If a person is drunk, that person should avoid the wheel at all costs and let someone else take the wheel and drive the vehicle.
