How To Choose The Right Motorcycle Helmet

How to choose the right motorcycle helmet?
Here are some essential factors to consider when purchasing a motorcycle helmet.
Understand the size of your head
It is pointless to wear a helmet that does not properly fit your head. This is because a large helmet will cause your head to move, and your head will not stay in a place, whereas a too-small helmet will put stress on the wrong parts of your head. If this is the case with your current bike helmet, you should replace it immediately. All the top brands offer a size chart to make it easy to choose the right helmet. Choose the best size as per your head fit. Also, you can go for a customised helmet if your head size is not available in the market.

Bike helmet compatibility
Bike helmet compatibility is not very straightforward. You can't just say that my size is, for example, XL. Each brand has different sizes, and even within the same brand, some might have higher padding, and some might have less padding. Therefore, the compatibility as per your head will depend on the hit and trial method. You can't just order a helmet online expecting the correct size. You need to wear a helmet and try it for at least 2-3 minutes to see that your comfort is not compromised.

Comfort
Here are some factors to consider when trying on different headgear if you're wondering how to choose the most comfortable helmet. The significant factors are:
- The internal padding is gentle on your skin.
- Cheek pads are soft on your cheeks.
- Your neck is not irritated by the chin strap.
- The brow pads and temples are perfectly aligned.
- There aren't any pressure points after you wear the helmet.
- You can move your mouth freely.
- The shape of the line corresponds to the shape of your head.
- The helmet significantly reduces ambient noise.

Ventilation
In a tropical country like India, proper helmet ventilation is critical. Because summer lasts so long, most motorcycle riders avoid wearing helmets to avoid becoming sweaty and suffocated. To stay safe, you must learn to choose a helmet with adequate vents for air circulation. The location of vents varies depending on the manufacturer. Select the one that appears to offer the most breathing room. Examine whether they can be closed, which may be necessary during the monsoon and winter.
Visor
Full-face helmets include face shields or visors. Many motorcyclists in India tend to keep their face shields open. The reasoning they give is that it hampers visibility. This is precisely the reason that you should check the visor properly. You should be able to see the road clearly, and therefore you should choose carefully. Also, stay away from dark tainted or smoky visors. The main thing is visibility and safety.
