How to Improve Fuel Efficiency of Your Vehicle?

- Fuel cost has gone beyond the financial means of many car owners
- We will discuss how to keep fuel costs in check
- We will talk about what makes a car guzzle fuel
We all know that there is a perpetual fuel crisis all over the world. The oil-producing countries keep calibrating the prices of crude oil according to the global trends of demand and supply and so many other factors. The price of fuel has outgrown the price of food and that has come as a pain in the neck for many car owners. The world economy has of late been under severe stress taking a toll on many avenues of survival and that includes the transport sector. There are situations in one's life where one cannot do without a car, the reasons could be many. These people, who are compelled to keep and maintain a vehicle, should know how to limit the consumption of fuel and do some savings for the future.
Just owning a car is not enough
Owning a car today is not a problem or a fantasy. For many people living in the cities leading a hectic life, driving to work and back home is a continual ritual that they just cannot fend off. The car has become more of a necessity than comfort or luxury. Travelling by public transport has its challenges with the crowds in the buses and trains and the constant congestion of traffic on the streets. So, you need a car to drive to work or on vacation. When a car gives you so much, you have your responsibility to take good care of it. it is also necessary that you run the vehicle with discretion and maturity so that the bills on fuel doesn't burn a hole in your pocket. One basic thing that you can do is keep your temptation to drive in check unless it is very urgent.
Here are a few tips to enhance the fuel efficiency of your car:

Drive but don't race
You are often overcome with the desire to pump your accelerator at full throttle to enjoy the feel of the speed. The civic roads are not racing tracks and you are not driving a racing car. This kind of driving will burn more fuel and you end up having one of the worst fuel economies for your car. Speeding a car wastes energy and fuel, both are so precious these days. If you race your car and drive recklessly, it is going to cause hazards on the road.
Turn off the engine when idling
You should remember that you must turn off the engine when the car has come to a dead halt. You are at the traffic lights and it might take a few minutes before it turns green, you should simply switch off and wait. Impatience will cost you dearly if you ignore the fact that an idling engine is a guzzling fuel. The power is on and the fuel is burning.
Check wheel alignment

One of the firsts to have fuel economy is to check your wheels and make them realigned. A perfect wheel alignment of the front wheels will keep your car balanced when you are driving through the rough patches. Wheel alignment can't be spotted with bare eyes. The wheels can be aligned with some equipment available at the motor garage or the tyre seller. If you feel something odd about your steering wheel or if you feel the wobble, you must immediately drive to the nearest technician to get it corrected.
Proper inflation of tyres
You should check the tyres of your car once in a while. Check to see if they are optimally inflated. Tyres with low air pressure will soon develop cracks along the seams and the economy of the car will plummet. The flatter the tyre, the more will be consumed because the harder the engine will have to perform to pull it on. It will cause unnecessary burning of fuel.
