Hyundai Continues To Test The Santro In India

Hyundai will be launching the Santro soon in India and we told you all about it when we spoke to Y.K Koo, MD and CEO, Hyundai Motors India back in August 2017. Back then, he also told us that the car will be launched closer to Diwali this year. From the looks of it, the company is getting ready to launch the car in India and testing for it is already under way. We've already caught the company testing the car in India a few times and now once again we get to see the camouflaged car from the Hyundai stable doing the rounds of the national capital.

Hyundai discontinued the Santro in 2016 after 16 successful years in the Indian market. The new generation Hyundai Santro will be based on the company's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, making it more upmarket than its other rivals in the segment. However, the new generation Santro will carry forward its tall-boy stance, but expect it to be more spacious than the older model. The interiors will also be more spacious, and is expected to get a new touchscreen and climate control.

Under the hood, expect a 0.8-litre and 1.0-litre petrol engine options but we expect the company to tell us more about the car soon. Specifications are not yet clear and we do expect it to get 5-Speed manual gearbox along with an option for an AMT gearbox as well. The Renault Kwid and Tata Tiago as also the Maruti Suzuki Celerio have done really well, and Hyundai wants a piece of the pie too. The Santro then will slot below the Grand i10 and Hyundai will look to fill it to the brim with features to make it stand out from amongst the crowd.
