Last year, it was the Hyundai Elite i20 that won the 2015 Indian Car of the Year award, while the Grand i10 won the ICOTY in 2014. Prior to that, it was the Hyundai i10 that won the same ICOTY award for the year 2008, making Hyundai Motor India, the only carmaker to receive four ICOTY award. What made Creta a part of this list is its emphasis on safety, bold design, dynamic performance and premium feature offerings.
"We are honoured to win the most prestigious automotive award - 'Indian Car of the Year 2016' for our make in India, made for the world product- the Perfect SUV- Hyundai Creta. Under the hood the Creta is powered by petrol and two diesel engines. The petrol version comes mated to a 1.6 litre VTVT engine that produces 121bhp and 155Nm of peak torque. On the other hand the diesel variants come powered by a 1.4-litre CRDi giving a output of 89bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque and a 1.6-litre CRDi engine that makes 126bhp and 260Nm of peak torque.
