Hyundai Helps Send a Message to Space

If you had to send a message to a loved one in space, how would you go about it? Perhaps an email. But what if one wished for it be a grand gesture? Well, you write the message in giant lettering, big enough to be read from space.
Hyundai Motor did just that for a 13-year-old girl from Houston, Texas whose father is an astronaut and is often away on space missions for many months at a time.

The record setting method used the Delamar Dry Lake, Nevada, US as a blank canvas, along with 11 Hyundai Genesis cars to write Stephanie's message to her father. The message covered an area more than one and a half times that of New York City's Central Park. The astronaut was able to capture his daughter's message from the International Space Station.
Furthermore, the creation, measuring 5.55 sq. km, now holds the Guinness World Record for the largest tyre track image ever.

The mission, christened 'A Message to Space', brought together experts from Korea, Europe, and the United States, who zeroed in on the Delamar Dry Lake in Nevada after due consideration of numerous geographical and meteorological factors.
Talking about the mission, Scott Noh, Head of Overseas Marketing Group, Hyundai Motor Company said, "Keeping in line with Hyundai Motor's corporate vision of being a 'lifetime partner in automobiles and beyond', the campaign highlights our philosophy of caring for customers through emotional interaction and becoming a brand beyond simply a means of transportation. Although sending a message to space with our Genesis cars was not an easy challenge, it enabled us to demonstrate our caring vision to our customers."
