2017 Hyundai Xcent Facelift Spotted Again; Launch Later This Week

- Hyundai Xcent facelift will be launched in India later this week
- The 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift also gets a new 1.2-litre diesel engine
- The Xcent facelift gets major cosmetic updates, new taillamps and more
The 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift is being put through its paces as the company braces for its launch in India later this week - on 20 April 2017, to be precise. The facelifted model will be company's second launch in India this year after the 2017 Hyundai Grand i10 facelift. In fact, Hyundai seems to have started dispatching the upcoming Xcent facelift to dealerships across the country. The car will come sporting exhaustive cosmetic changes plus a myriad of new features that promise to up the car's premium quotient.

Now, we shared some similar spy images of the car a couple of days back and by the looks of it, this one appears to be the same Hyundai Xcent. The absence of alloy wheels indicated that this particular variant is one of lower ones, which is also why this one only gets halogen headlamps instead of projector lights. That said, overall the front of the car has been completely redesigned and it now comes with a new hexagonal 6-slat chrome grille with chrome surrounds and redesigned sweptback headlamp cluster and bonnet. The car also gets a new front bumper with a new wide black design element that connects the new horizontal foglamps. The Xcent facelift will also come with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) besides the foglamps but that will be on offer only in the top-of-the-line variant.

From the sides, the new Hyundai Xcent facelift looks a bit more proportionate thanks to the tweaked design. The particular model did not come with the plastic cladding that the outgoing model gets, which if you ask me is a smart move and makes to the car more appealing. As mentioned before, this Xcent is a low-end variant so we are yet to see what the new alloys look like, but as for the hubcapsthey look pretty decent. New ORVMs, new tail lamps and new rear bumpre are some of the other exterior updates made to the car.

According to the recently leaked specifications sheet, the updated Hyundai Xcent facelift will come in a total of five variants - E, E+, S, SX, and SX(O). The base variant has been renamed as E, as per Hyundai current trend and the E+ is an all-new variant. The Xcent facelift will also come with an extensively updated cabin with new upholstery and features like 2-DIN music system with 4 speakers, Bluetooth, rear AC vents, rear armrest, rear power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more. The top-end trim though will come with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Mechanically though, the Xcent facelift will also come with a new 1.2-litre diesel engine. It is the same oil burner Hyundai introduced with the 2017 Grand i10 facelift early this year. The new engine sees a marginal enhancement in power to 74 bhp, but a substantial increase in peak torque to 190 Nm. Petrol duties will stay with the 82 bhp 1.2-litre Kappa engine. A 4-speed automatic on that is also likely to stay on offer as an option for buyers who want an automatic version.
