Jaguar Begins Testing I-Pace Electric SUV In London

- The Jaguar I-Pace makes 395 bhp and 700 Nm of torque
- It does the 0-100km/h sprint in less than 5 seconds
- It has a range of 500km on a single charge according to NEDC
Electric Mobility is the way forward as many auto manufacturers have demonstrated. Along with other manufacturers, Jaguar too has started making in-roads into the electric vehicle space. The British manufacturer had previewed its I-Pace concept earlier in 2016, but now, it has started testing its first ever all-electric vehicle on the streets of London. The I-Pace has two synchronous permanent magnet electric motors at the front and the rear axle which have a combined power output of 395 bhp and makes maximum of 700 Nm of torque. It also features an AWD system. Each electric motor weighs about 38kg The 0-100 kmph sprint takes less than 5 seconds and the performance SUV will have a range of over 500km in accordance with New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). The 90 kWh lithium-ion batteries can be charged up to 80 per cent in 90 minutes using a 50 kW DC charging point.

With the I-PACE Concept we've torn up the rule book to create a vehicle with supercar inspired aesthetics, sports car performance and SUV space, in one electric package. It has surprised people and the enthusiasm for our first electric vehicle has been beyond all my expectations.
