KTM has unveiled the second generation Freeride E-XC in Salzburg, Austria. The 2018 Freeride E-XC gets a new frame and updated bodywork to match the rest of KTM's current motorcycle line-up. The new chassis uses a unique mixture of steel and aluminium and the bike also gets a new battery that provides fifty per cent more capacity, which translates to about 90 minutes of riding time depending on riding style and terrain. There's also an ECU map selection feature which helps riders dial up the power output on the electric dirtbike.

The 2018 KTM Freeride EX-C gets a new battery and electric motor
"We are proud to present the new KTM Freeride EX-C, which marks the next step in development of e-mobility within KTM and is a continuation of our commitment to this segment. We know that e-mobility will change the landscape of travel in the future, and our vision is very clear. Looking ahead to 2025 we expect to have a wider range of models available with a focus in the commuting arena," said Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM.

The 2018 KTM Freeride EX-C gets three riding modes and WP suspension
The 2018 KTM Freeride EX-C is powered by a state-of-the-art electric motor which makes 18 kW (around 24 bhp) and 40 Nm of peak torque. The bike weighs just 111 kg and gets a new battery which has a quick charging time, providing 70 per cent of its initial capacity after 700 charge cycles. The bike also has regenerative charging, with energy going back into the battery from the bike's deceleration; energy during coasting and braking boosts power back into the battery store. It also gets three riding modes - Enduro, Cross and Economy, and comes equipped with new WP Xplor 43 upside down fork and WP PDS shock. The Freeride EX-C is not available on sale in India.
