Maruti Vitara Brezza Wins The NDTV Subcompact SUV Of The Year Award 2017

- The Vitara Brezza also won the CNB Viewers' Choice Car Of The Year Award
- Over 60,000 units of the Vitara Brezza were sold in India by October
- Vitara Brezza joined the top 10 selling cars in India by May 2016
The Vitara Brezza also won the CNB Viewers' Choice Car Of The Year Award and it didn't come as a surprise. The Vitara Brezza's popularity with the masses is not breaking news. In fact it was already in the top 10 selling passenger vehicles in India by May this year and that shows how much attention the car got within two months of its launch.
Maruti Suzuki had sold over 60,000 units of the Vitara Brezza in India by October and the company has garnered over 1.75 lakh bookings for the car too. In fact people love the car so much, there are those who are put on a waiting period of 12 months and they're willing to wait. Interestingly the Vitara Brezza crossed the 10,000 sales mark for a month twice since its launch and all this achieved when there's only one diesel engine on offer as also no automatic transmission.

The Vitara Brezza's design is an appealing one. It gets most of its design from the bigger Vitara which is why there's a muscular-looking front bumper with large air intakes flanked by fog lamps and LED guide lights and black underbody plastic cladding. The floating roof design and the 16-inch alloy wheels (top-end variants) further add to car's appeal.
Under the hood, the Vitara Brezza is powered by a sole 1.3-litre DDIS engine the makes 89bhp and develops 200Nm of peak torque. The diesel motor comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Maruti Suzuki is also working on an AMT version of the car, which will come to India soon. Clearly the demand for the car is going to go up once it's introduced with a petrol engine. Maruti Suzuki has worked hard at making this car and the results bear testimony to it. So kudos to Maruti Suzuki!
