The Goodwood Festival of Speed will see McLaren celebrate key motorsport milestones accomplished by the company in the past 50 years and what better way to celebrate it than making a very special edition of one of its cars. McLaren announced that it will unveil a track-only 570S Sprint and the car will be part of a whole bunch of others to celebrate the occasion.

According to McLaren, this year's Goodwood will be the most extensive display of McLaren vehicles ever put together by the company at one time. It's saying that because the 570S Sprint will make its global debut alongside the 570S Coupe, in Goodwood's supercar paddock, the 650S Can Am by MSO to celebrate the 50th anniversary of its Can Am championship and ofcourse the sold-out 675LT Spider and P1 GTR.

The 570S is a special car because it will become the third model from the company's Sport Series line-up after the 570S Coupe and 570S GT4 which is seen in the picture above. Now, McLaren hasn't yet put out official pictures of the 570S Sprint but the company did say that it'll be different than the 570S GT4. The Sprint model will be a dedicated track-day car and will be unrestricted by racing regulations. We expect the 570S Sprint to get a different set of aerodynamic body kit along with lighter body panels and components.

The technical specifications are not yet out but we're going by the name here '570S' which is why we might not see any change under the hood. It'll still come powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 that churns out 562bhp (570 PS), while the torque figure might see a change.

Another car that will turn up the heat at the event is the 1986 MP4-2C which won the Formula 1 season of the same year. If we remember correctly, it was Alain Prost who took it past the chequered flag in an extremely dramatic race to pick up his consecutive second world championship. On a day when his team mate, Keke Rosberg, suffered a puncture, Prost managed to sail past in his McLaren to pick up his title.

We can't wait to see all of McLaren's rich heritage under one roof and it certainly will be an enviable lot.
