Mercedes-AMG GT Sedan Wind Tunnel Test Images Released Ahead Of Geneva Debut

- The Mercedes-AMG GT sedan will make its global debut on March 6
- The upcoming AMG GT sedan replaces the CLS 63 AMG
- The four-door AMG GT will be powered by the same 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8
Mercedes-Benz has recently released new images of the upcoming four-door AMG GT sedan undergoing wind tunnel testing. The car is slated to make its global debut next month on March 6 at the Geneva Motor Show, and here's Mercedes-AMG giving the car some finishing touches ahead of the official unveiling. In these latest images and video, the Stuttgart-based carmaker gives us a glimpse of the AMG GT sedan's aerodynamic capabilities and the car's active aero rear spoiler in action.

Mercedes-AMG GT four-door gets the signature styling of the GT family
Sadly, we still do not get to see the styling cues of the car courtesy of the heavy camouflage, but we get a closer look at some of the other exterior details like - the signature 'Panamericana' grille, the bug-eyed LED headlamps, and the sporty front bumper with a wide central air dam and larger intakes on either end. The profile of the car shows a nice low slung silhouette with a coupe-like sloping roofline. The car also comes with an active aero rear spoiler that, as shown in the below clip, contribute to optimum aerodynamic performance.

The upcoming Mercedes-AMG GT four-door sedan is essentially a replacement to the CLS 63 in the company line-up. It's also the fourth model to join the AMG GT family after the AMG GT S, AMG GT-R, and AMG GT Roadster. In fact, the four-door performance sedan will be based on the new-gen Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan and likely to borrow some of its styling cues and features, especially the cabin.

Mercedes-AMG GT four-door gets the same 4.0-litre V8 engine
The car will be powered by the same 4.0-liter bi-turbo V8 engine that is offered with AMG GT models but like all of them, the four-door AMG GT will also come in a different state of tune. While the power figures will only be revealed at the unveiling in Geneva, it's said that Mercedes-AMG could introduce plug-in hybrid variant later in the future, which would come with an output to over 800 bhp.
