Mercedes-Benz C-Class Diesel Launched; Prices Start at Rs. 39.90 Lakhs

Mercedes-Benz India today launched the C-Class in its diesel avatar. The baby S-Class will be made available in two trim levels - the C220 CDI Style and C220 CDI Avantgarde. The C220 Style is priced at Rs. 39.90 lakh while the Avantgarde costs Rs. 42.90 lakh (Ex-showroom- Delhi)
Mercedes-Benz had launched the all-new C-class with the petrol engine recently and the diesel followed shortly after which shows the german car manufacturers commitment to the Indian market. The C-Class diesel looks the same as its petrol cousin but it gets a four-cylinder diesel engine which is the most fuel efficient in the segment with economy figures of 19.27 kmpl (ARAI)
The 2.2-litre engine produces 170bhp of power and develops 400Nm of torque which is quite substantial. However, it is called the baby S for a reason and that is because it gives an unparalleled luxury product experience.
With high quality interiors and features the C-Class promises and delivers a lot more than its rivals. The seats are covered with full ARTICO leather. High-strength steels and intelligent lightweight construction are the technical distinguishing marks of the sturdy rear seats. Their newly designed seat cushions furthermore enhance the comfort for the rear-seat passengers who also enjoy considerably more legroom and knee room.
It was a double treat today as Mercedes-Benz has also commenced the local production of the petrol variant of the new C-Class which was introduced last year as a CBU. In keeping with the global availability constraints for the new C-Class owing to the overwhelming demand across the world, the petrol variant was introduced last year. The diesel variant, however today will be available as a CBU to begin with and we hope to see local production start soon. The current plant has an annual capacity of 20000 units and Mercedes-Benz will be looking to expand that capacity soon.
