New Hyundai Sonata On Sale in Malaysia; India Launch in 2015

Hyundai, the Korean automaker, that showcased the 2015 Sonata in China last month, has now launched it in Malaysia. The similar vehicle is expected to come to our shores as well. Based on the company's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy, the vehicle looks entirely different from the existing model that is on sale in India.
With 4,855mm length, 1,865mm width and 2,805mm wheelbase, the new Sonata is 35mm longer, 30mm wider and has a 10mm longer wheelbase than the existing model. The larger dimensions result into a more spacious cabin. The company also says that the widespread use of high-strength steel, the car achieves 41 percent more torsional rigidity and 35% more bending strength.

The cabin of the car too has gone more up-market with a larger centre console, better placed switchgears, a fully-digital instrument cluster, better upholstery and several other new additions.
Launched in three variants - Elegance B, Elegance and Executive - in Malaysia, the new Sonata features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine. Mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine churns out a maximum power output of 152bhp and 194Nm of torque. The Indian model, however, is expected to be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options.
