New Mahindra Scorpio Testing Continues; Interior Detailed In New Images

- New Scorpio gets front facing third row of seats
- Middle row gets option for captain seats
- Expected to come with 2.0-litre petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines
Mahindra has been testing the new Scorpio for a while now. The third-gen body-on-frame SUV is expected to make its debut later this year with Mahindra continuing to test the car across the length and breadth of India. Now a recent set of images give the clearest view of the SUV's cabin, seating arrangements and some of the features packed in. As seen in previous images of the interior, the centre console of the Scorpio is dominated by a large landscape-oriented touchscreen. Lower down are housed the controls for the dual-zone climate control and switches for drive modes, ESC and more.

Unlike the XUV700, the Mahindra seems to have gone with a more conventional physical dial-based instrument cluster with a coloured central MID. The central MID is capable of displaying multiple pieces of information including a tyre pressure monitoring system, door ajar warnings for each individual door, seat belt reminders, and a front tyre angle warning (if the tyre is not pointed straight ahead at the time of starting the engine) and more. Also sitting at the base of the centre console is a wireless phone charger.

New Scorpio will get middle row captain seats, front facing third row.
The seats meanwhile are upholstered in black and brown leather while the second row features individual captain seats. A bench seat option too is expected to be offered as well. The middle row occupants get a separate blower control for the rear air-con vents located at the back of the centre-console armrest.

Will get drive modes, ESC, mild-hybrid tech and a wireless phone charger.
Also clearly visible is a large sunroof – not panoramic – and roof-mounted speakers. Also clearly visible is the third row of front-facing seats though with the seats up boot space is minimal. The tailgate also gets an internal handle to open the door from the inside.

Aside from the above mentioned features, the new Scoprio is also set to be equipped with a 360 degree camera, cruise control, key-less go and more.
Moving to the engine line-up, the Scorpio is expected to be available with Mahindra's new 2.0-litre turbo-petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines also doing duty in the Thar and XUV700. Both engines are expected to be offered with a 6-speed manual and automatic gearbox options with the diesel also set to get four-wheel drive.
