Next-Gen Toyota Camry Spotted Testing In India

Images of the next-generation Toyota Camry have recently surfaced online in its near-production guise. The new Camry is already on sale in the global markets, and sighting of the car in India indicates that Toyota might be considering launching the car in India, possibly in 2019. Interestingly this is not the first time that a test mule of the eight-gen Toyota Camry has been spotted in India, but like the previous one, the latest mule also comes with some heavy camouflage.

New Toyota Camry is already on sale in the global markets
Unlike the previously seen prototype model of the new Toyota Camry, this time around we also get a closer look at the front section of the car. Despite the camouflage, we can see the outlines of the car's signature design lines and the large front grille. The exposed bits also reveal the sharp-looking headlamps which come with LED project lights and LED daytime running lamps as well. The car runs on a set of multi-spoke alloy wheels, sleeker ORVMs, and wraparound LED taillamps at the rear.

New Toyota Camry will also come in hybrid format
Based on the exhaust pipe, this particular car appears to be the hybrid model, which is understandable considering the outgoing Camry in India is also offered only in a hybrid format. Other exterior elements visible in these images include the new sleek taillamps, and chrome door handles. The all-new 2018 Toyota Camry will be the latest model from the automaker to be based on the TNGA modular platform.
Under the hood, the new-gen Toyota Camry will get a 2.5-litre petrol engine on the standard version, while the Hybrid model will continue to use the 2.5-litre petrol with Atkinson cycle engine, paired to an electric motor. Both versions will come paired to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). The US model will also get the 3.5-litre V6 petrol motor, which won't be making its way to India.
