Okinawa Pips Hero Electric To Sell Most Electric Two-Wheelers In H1 2022

- Okinawa sold 49,196 units between January 1 and July 9, 2022.
- Hero Electric sold 45,824 units in the same duration, dropping to second place.
- Ola Electric rode a wave of popularity to sell 43,099 units in 6 months.
Government of India's RTO website - Vahan - recently updated the sales data of all the vehicles, revealing some interesting news in the electric two-wheeler space. According to the registration numbers, Okinawa Autotech sold the most number of electric two-wheelers in India in H1 2022, particularly between January 1 and July 9, 2022. Okinawa Autotech sold as many as 49,196 units in the duration, 3,372 units more than Hero Electric, which was previously the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, and sold 45,824 units in the same duration.
With the rising publicity - good or bad - Ola Electric returned strong numbers too, and came in third in terms of total units sold. The Softbank backed electric scooter manufacturer has sold 43,099 units in 2022 until now. Meanwhile in the same duration, Ampere sold 35,090 units, coming in at number 4.

Despite being well known for its great performing electric scooters, Ather Energy surprisingly sold only 16,390 electric scooters in the 6 month duration, suggesting that the EV maker has scope of improvement on many fronts to pull in numbers similar to its rivals. Behind Ather was Pur energy, which sold 9,774 units, beating TVS Motor (9,497), Revolt (8,994) and Bajaj (7,919) in electric two-wheeler sales between January 1 and July 9, 2022.
