Motorcycling and wanderlust go and hand-in-hand, and the fact is, if you choose to saddle up on a pair of wheels, the explorer in you will want to see more of the world. Well, that's what riders Samuel Felice and Ambroise Prince have set out to do as the started their journey to ride from Paris, France to Saigon, Vietnam.
The riders are replicating the iconic saga that was first achieved by Serge Gracium and Michel Vaslin, two Petty Officers of the French Navy, who traveled from Saigon to Paris with their Peugeot Scooters S57 in 1956. After 60 years, the idea was to reproduce this journey, but in the opposite direction. The two riders, who are directors, cameramen as well editors, had a desire for such an adventure for a long time.
Speaking on the adventure of a lifetime, "We always wanted to do a road trip and thanks to some intense research, we came across this amazing story that took place exactly 60 years ago. It immediately echoed with our desire for adventure and what could be more exciting than covering a part of the world on a scooter? Two wheeler is a great way to make a road-trip off the beaten path, meeting people and seek beautiful scenery. Django Adventure is our tribute to the raid on its 60th year birthday, and a great opportunity to realize our dream.”
Both Felice and Vaslin arrived in India earlier this week enroute the journey to Saigon that was kicked off on August 29 this year in Paris. Much like the French naval officers, the riders today have chosen the Peugeot Django 125 scooters as their weapon of travel and the French automaker owned by Mahindra is committed on supporting them in their adventure.
The Peugeot Django 125 is directly inspired by the S57, a spiritual successor you could say and reproduces the iconic retro looks in a modern ensemble. The India leg of the journey starts from September 30 in Kolkata and will ride across the North East India to exit from Moreh in Manipur. The riders will be met a terrain comprising on uncharted forests and mountains across the ride.
Mr. Vinod Sahay, CEO, Mahindra Two Wheelers said, “This is the first time that Peugeot scooters will be seen on Indian roads. It gives us immense pleasure to be associated with this historical ride and we feel immensely proud that India will be a part of this passionate and challenging road trip.”
