Renault, the French carmaker, that is all set to unveil the much-anticipated 800cc small car, the Kayou aka XBA, in India on May 20th, might also launch the same car in other markets under its low-cost car brand Dacia, claims a French website Largus. The website has also rendered the upcoming car that looks quite close to the on-test version in India. It further claims that the vehicle will be called the Kayou in other markets too, and will be positioned below Sandero.

Expected to be priced below Rs. 4 lakh, the Renault Kayou will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and others in the league. The vehicle will be based on an all new platform - CMF-A - that has been jointly developed by Renault and Nissan. In fact, the small 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol engine that will power the Kayou too has been developed by both the companies together.

As we reported earlier, Nissan India is also working on an entry-level Datsun hatchback, to position below the GO, which will use the same platform and engine. Though, the design of both the cars will be completely different. The Nissan's version might take its inspiration from the Redi-GO Concept that was showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.

Besides this small car, Renault is also working on a sub-compact SUV that will directly compete against the Ford EcoSport.
