Highlights

Datsun, Nissan's low-cost car brand, is planning to launch yet another small car in the country next year. This announcement came at the first anniversary celebration of Datsun in India. Though the company already has two affordable cars - Go hatchback and GO+ MPV - the new product might be priced even more aggressively. Upon its launch, the car will take on the likes of Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.

The brand has already sold around 17,000 units of Datsun cars in India in the very first year, and the company is now aiming to further increase its sales by opening around 60 exclusive dealerships of the brand in smaller towns by 2016. Just so you know, the company currently sells Datsun products through Nissan's dealerships only.

Though the company hasn't announced the model name yet, we believe it will take its design inspiration from the Redi-Go concept that was unveiled at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo. It will be based on an all new small car platform CMF-A that will also underpin the upcoming Renault XBA small car. The engine too could be the same, 800cc, 3-cylinder petrol unit, that will power the Renault's small car. Both the platform and the engine have been developed by Nissan-Renault alliance.

The company might also bring the same vehicle in the LPG option.
