- River has achieved this milestone in just short of 2 years
- The Indie is currently priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom)
- River last updated the Indie back in November 2024
Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer River has announced the rollout of its 10,000th Indie electric scooter from its manufacturing facility in Hoskote, Karnataka. The first unit of the Indie was rolled off the plant on August 25, 2023, and the company has now crossed this milestone in less than two years.

The River Indie received its first update in November 2024, with the talking point being the change from a belt-drive system to a chain-drive setup integrated with a single-speed gearbox. Despite this, the scooter retains its original synchronous permanent magnet motor, delivering a maximum power output of 9 bhp and a peak torque of 26 Nm. It gets three ride modes: Eco, Ride, and Rush. The scooter can accelerate from 0–40 kmph in 3.7 seconds in Rush mode and has a top speed of 90 kmph.
River entered India’s electric scooter market with the launch of the Indie in February 2023, and began full-scale production in August of the same year. The company's 120,000 square-foot Hoskote facility houses automated lines for both vehicle and battery pack assembly and has a production capacity of up to 1 lakh units annually.

River plans to further expand its footprint and aims to establish at least one outlet in every major Indian city by September 2025.
The River Indie is currently priced at Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The Indie rivals the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and more.
