Sachin Tendulkar Presents BMW Cars to PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik

- The event was organised at P. Gopichand's academy in Hyderabad
- P Gopichand was felicitated as well
- Mr. Chamudeswarnath sponsored the cars
It was PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar who made India proud at the recently concluded 2016 Rio Olympics with their amazing performances and hence were presented with BMW cars by none other than Sachin Tendulkar. PV Sindhu won the silver medal in the Women's Badminton finals while Sakshi Malik won a bronze in the Women's Freestyle 58kg category. Dipa Karmakar missed out on the bronze by a whisker in the Women's Vault event. Mr. Chamudeswarnath, the president of the Hyderabad Badminton Association of India sponsored the cars as well. Mr. Punnaiah Choudary, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) secretary for Tournaments recently announced this. He had also accompanied the Indian Badminton contingent to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. One can also see the BMW X1 and the BMW 320d in the photograph, indicating the models which were presented to the athletes.
(Rio Olympics Heroes from India)Indian Badminton coach, P. Gopichand was presented with a car as well. Speaking at the event, he said "It is not save the girl child but saved by the girl child', while referring to the exceptional performance of PV Sindhu, Sakshi Malik and Dipa Karmakar.
Sachin was one of the first celebrities to tweet his congratulations to PV Sindhu after she lost to Carolina Marin in the finals of the Women's Badminton finals at the Rio Olympics.
This is not the first instance where the batting legend has felicitated an Olympic medalist. In 2012, Sachin Tendulkar had presented Saina Nehwal with a BMW car, congratulating her on her bronze medal winning performance at the London Olympics. He had earlier presented PV Sindhu with a Maruti Suzuki Swift in 2012, for winning girls' Asian Youth under-19 Championship.
