Skoda Auto India is readying a top-spec Monte Carlo variant of the Skoda Kushaq SUV, with a launch confirmed for May 2022. The Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo will sit at the top of the variant list and would come loaded with added features, as well as cosmetic tweaks both to its exterior and interior, which would also mean a hike in its pricing. The Skoda Kushaq, at present, retails between Rs. 10.99 lakh to Rs. 18.19 lakh (ex-showroom, India), in two petrol powertrains, paired with both manual and automatic gearbox.

The Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo edition, like the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo edition, is a special edition model that pays tribute to Skoda's Motorsport heritage, and brings in exclusive exterior colours, along with Monte Carlo specific tweaks which will be unique to this variant. A few of these exterior changes would include a blacked-out treatment instead of chrome at various places. The car will also feature the Monte Carlo badge on the front fender. Inside, the cabin gets a black & red upholstery package with red highlights, which will not only heighten the premium appeal but also add a certain sportiness to the overall look of the car. The headrest would also get the Monte Carlo badging.

The steering feels a bit too light even at high speeds and could've weighed up better for a more responsive feel. (Image for representational purpose only)

The other key element would be the introduction of an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, sourced from the Skoda Slavia. Features such as wireless charging, electric sunroof, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, wireless Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MySkoda Connect app, and cruise control to name a few.

Under the hood, the Skoda Kushaq Monte Carlo Edition will continue with the two petrol engines - a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI and a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder TSI. While the former makes 113 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque, the latter belts out 148 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox along with optional 6-speed automatic transmission on the 1.0-Litre TSI, while the 1.5-litre TSI is offered with a 7-speed DSG gearbox.
