The Bloodhound - A Car That Can Travel Faster Than The Speed Of Sound

The Bloodhound SSC is a rocket-powered car that went on for sale for a staggering $11 million. It broke the land speed record by hitting over 1000 mph. This car with a jet engine can break the sound barrier.
This British-build car is all set to redefine top speed scales for racing cars. So, are you eager to learn more about this exciting car? In that case, let's jump to discussing everything we know about this jet engine-equipped vehicle!
Desert Track
Currently, the makers have shipped the Bloodhound to a desert track in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. The Bloodhound will undergo several rounds of testing in this desert track. These tests will analyse the aerodynamic stress of the vehicle to test the braking systems. To date, the Bloodhound has touched 501 mph.

The Absolute Aerodynamics
You'll be surprised to learn that this all-new lightning-fast car comes with a Rolls Royce EJ200 turbofan jet engine. The Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft uses the same machines. This supersonic car will receive an additional rocket thruster to break the land speed record. To avoid aerodynamic stress, the makers have tried to keep this car as narrow & slender as possible.
Its Land Speed Record
Before we talk about the land speed record of the Bloodhound, let's look at the current numbers. The existing land speed record is 763 mph. Andy Green achieved this record in 1997. Interestingly, Andy is the candidate who is driving Bloodhound for its speed tests and will also attempt to create the land speed record on it.
Power
A car with that kind of speed level also requires immense power. The Bloodhound required a total thrust of 20 tonnes to achieve a top speed of 1,000 mph. This phenomenal amount of robustness doesn't come with regular machines. It's no surprise that the Bloodhound harbours a Eurojet EJ200 jet engine.

All About the Fuel
The FIA rules suggest that the car needs to undergo the measured mile in both directions within 60 minutes to gain a reasonable record attempt. As a result, the vehicle must complete a pitstop at the end of its first run. So, after touching 1,000 mph, the car should stop, turn around, and refuel!
Stopping
The Bloodhound is no ordinary car. Naturally, its fuel requirements will also be different. An auxiliary power unit drives the car's rocket oxidiser pump that supplies 800 L of high test peroxide. These numbers are equivalent to 40 L per second. You need to know that this auxiliary power unit is a 55bhp jaguar supercharged V8 engine.

The Bloodhound SSC is sheer innovation, top-notch technology, and world-class engineering. What are your thoughts about this lightning-fast car?
