Toyota Innova Crysta Diesel Bookings Halted Temporarily

Last week, carandbike had reported on Toyota Kirloskar Motor temporarily stopping accepting bookings for the diesel variants of the Innova Crysta and now the company has confirmed the news. The Japanese carmaker cited high demand pattern leading to an increased waiting period for the diesel variants as the primary reason for stopping its bookings. That said, the company is trying to supply the vehicles to customers who have already made bookings And will continue to take order for petrol variants of Innova Crysta.
In its statement, the company said, "Due to very high demand pattern which has resulted in an increased waiting period for the diesel variant of Innova Crysta, TKM has decided to temporarily stop taking orders for the diesel variant. As a customer centric company, we are making efforts to supply the vehicles to customers who have already made bookings with our dealers. However, we will continue to take order for Petrol variant of Innova Crysta."
The Toyota Innova Crysta, diesel in particular, is the company's bestselling model in India and the MPV is also due for a generation update which is expected to happen by the end of this financial year. According to some news reports, the next-gen Toyota Innova Crysta will go petrol-only sourcing the petrol hybrid powertrain from the recently unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The current Toyota Innova Crysta diesel is equipped with the 2.4-litre diesel engine tuned for 147 bhp and 360 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with either a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.7-litre petrol motor in the Crysta meanwhile, produces 164 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque and comes with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.
