Uber To Hire 500 Techies For Its India Tech Centres By End Of 2022

- Uber India aims to hire 500 additional tech employees by December 2022
- Right now it has 1,000-member tech team across its centres in India
- Uber has been expanding teams at all its tech centres across the globe
Uber Technologies has announced its plan to start a fresh round of recruitment for its India tech centres. The app-based cab and food delivery service provider aims to hire 500 additional tech employees by December 2022. Right now, the company has a 1,000-member tech team across its centres in Hyderabad and Bengaluru. The company says that the hiring plan is a "testament to its commitment to India, and its recognition of the engineering talent in the country." Last year in 2021, Uber added 250 new engineers to teams in India.
The company says that it has been expanding teams at all its tech centres across the globe, including the US, Canada, Latin America, Amsterdam, and at its twin centres in India. Interestingly, the announcement comes just days after Reuters reported that Uber will scale back hiring and reduce expenditure on its marketing and incentive activities, according to a letter from Chief Executive Officer Dara Khosrowshahi, seen by the news agency. According to Reuters, Khosrowshahi said Uber's change in strategy was a necessary response to the "seismic shift" in investor sentiment.
