What to do when your motorcycle breaks down on a ride?
Imagine that you are enjoying a lovely ride, and the motorcycle breaks down. Even if your motorcycle is serviced regularly, there is a possibility that it will break down. You should be prepared for such a scenario to ensure that you can deal with it.

To avoid any trouble, you should keep some things in mind:
- Carry a repair kit: A repair kit comes in handy if the trouble is small and can be fixed with minor effort. A puncture repair kit must include a tyre inflator, jump starter, charger, and puncture repair kit, along with some miscellaneous tools.
- Learn to use basic tools: To help you fix minor issues related to a motorcycle breakdown, you should learn to use basic tools. For example, you should learn to fix a puncture and you should know how to inflate a tyre. Also, you should learn to jumpstart the motorcycle in case of a battery issue.
- Purchase a roadside assistance policy: A roadside assistance policy ensures that you will be taken care of even if you don't know how to use various tools. You can get your battery restarted, or your puncture repaired, or even get your motorcycle towed in the case of serious damage. Usually, the maximum time for the help to arrive is around 60 minutes in the cities and 90 minutes on the highways.

For various common motorcycle breakdown issues, the following can come in handy:
Tyre puncture: Using a tyre inflator and puncture repair kit, you can learn how to repair a puncture on your own. Alternatively, you can call the roadside assistance team.

Dead battery: You can use another motorcycle's battery to jumpstart your battery using jumpstart cables. To jumpstart a bike, the positive of your motorcycle's battery needs to be connected to the positive of the charged battery. Also, the negative needs to be connected to both the batteries. In case you don't find another motorcycle nearby, you can simply push the bike in second gear and hold the clutch to get to a good speed. Your bike will be able to restart the battery. Finally, if you are not comfortable restarting the battery yourself, you can call the roadside assistance team as well.

Braking Problem: If your brakes aren't working, simply leave the bike for a few minutes to allow the brakes to cool. Riding a bike without adequate braking is risky. Finally, if cooling does not help, you should call the roadside assistance team and seek professional help.
