Range Rover - Favourite pick for London thieves
'Range Rovers at risk in London' - doesn't this press statement make you raise your eyebrows and forms a slight smile on your face, while also making you feel a bit puzzled? It made me do so! UK's well known stolen vehicle recovery solutions (SVR) company TRACKER has released a press statement (a warning rather!) urging all owners of Range Rovers in London to be extra vigilant and focus on the security of their vehicle as there has been a sharp rise in the number of Range Rovers stolen and recovered in the London area. So, if the auto enthusiast thieves of the Great Britain are behind your Range Rovers, don't panic, your saviour Mr. 'Tracker' is here.
Quite a large number of the thefts reported are for cars parked along the streets and the break-in tools comprise of complicated electronic devices that can jam the GPS system of the vehicles. Well, this might sound a bit too tech-crazy to the hammer-using thieves from the old-school era. But Tracker not only uses GPS, but GSM (global system for mobile communications) and VHF (very high frequency) technologies to ensure jammers cannot stop the system from locating a vehicle.
So, like superhero characters help their country's police, Mr. Tracker has helped the UK police forces in recovering stolen vehicles and make arrests, bringing thieves to justice. Tracker can locate stolen vehicles even when they are hidden in a garage or shipping container. I wish we had our version of Mr. Tracker too - that would help the Indian police force immensely. Finally they'd be able to figure that the car they'd been searching for in Delhi for over three years is actually at a used-car dealer's store in Punjab, that too after having changed hands twice over in that duration!
