Lucid Motors Is To Launch Tri-Motor Air As Tesla Model S Plaid Rival

Lucid Motors is seemingly preparing another onslaught on Tesla’s supremacy in the electric car space, especially on the performance and range table stakes. Already the Lucid Air Dream Edition has been rated by the EPA as the car with the highest range. Now, Lucid Motors which is run by Peter Rawlinson, the former Chief Engineer for the Model S at Tesla, wants to also establish its supremacy in performance.
Now, it is a known fact that the Lucid Air performance edition comes very close to the performance of the Tesla Model S Plaid despite having just two motors as opposed to three on the Tesla. Lucid claims that it has the most sophisticated electric motor in the industry that even beats the one developed by Tesla. Now, it is teasing a model of the Lucid Air which will debut in two days at the Monterey Car week that could have a tri-motor setup.
This teaser was first posted by Lucid Motors on Twitter then its CEO and CTO Peter Rawlinson also shared a photo of the assembly line in Casa Grande, Arizona with all the employees having three fingers up in the air. Then on August 16, the EV maker shared a short animation of three cylindrical objects rotating and spinning much like an electric motor.
The post said,” Three is the magic number. See why at The Quali 8.19.22”
Already the car delivers 1,111 bhp and so another 600 bhp should be in the works with this car which will mean it will match the likes of the Rimac Nevera and Pininfarina Batista in terms of performance despite being an all-out luxury sedan first than being a sports car or a GT. It will likely surpass the figures of the tri-motor Tesla Model S Plaid. In fact, during its prototyping phase, Lucid Motors did run a tri-motor Air at Laguna Seca.
It should be noted that with a four-motor architecture, the Lucid Air could even surpass the figures the Rimac Nevera has.
